G2 DANCE COMPANY
Founded in December 1999, G2 Dance Company is a pioneer in Brazil and the country’s only active professional company composed of master dancers. Based in Curitiba, Paraná, it brings together nine former members of Balé Teatro Guaíra working as both performers and creators, exploring new possibilities in contemporary dance through the integration of diverse techniques and movement research.
The company made its official debut in July 2000 with the choreographic works Instável Sonata and Pare, pense, faça alguma coisa! (“Stop, Think, Do Something!”). Throughout its history, it has distinguished itself through its artistic maturity and commitment to valuing the careers of dancers, earning recognition through the APCA (São Paulo Association of Art Critics) Stimulus Award.
G2 Dance Company Embarks on a New Cycle of Technical and Artistic Research, Redefining Its Creative Process Starting June 2026
Under the artistic direction of Ivan Andrade, G2 Dance Company, the Teatro Guaíra company of master dancers, is developing its own creative methodology while working on a new, original production. Through workshops with guest artists, the company is exploring new approaches to technical training, theoretical study, and collaborative creation, expanding its artistic language and establishing a distinctive working methodology.
Among the invited artists is Elaine de Markondes, a former classical ballet dancer, Argentine Tango dancer, Pilates Master Teacher, Fascial Fitness Trainer, and dance movement specialist.
She is leading the workshop “FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION FOR MOVEMENT PERFORMANCE,” which aims to enhance the technical development and artistic longevity of G2 dancers through a body conditioning program based on functional movement integration. The program draws on principles of the Pilates Method, fascial training, neuromuscular training, and body awareness, tailored to the specific physical, technical, and artistic demands of G2 dancers.
The workshop started in August and is being delivered through practical sessions with an individualized and progressive approach, respecting the specific needs and characteristics of the group. The sessions incorporate exercises that progressively advance through different body positions, along with movement resources and repertoire drawn from the Pilates Method and contemporary fascial and functional training systems for dancers.
The practice also incorporates the Tye4X®, an accessory developed by the PhysicalMind® Institute that facilitates elastic tension activation and proprioceptive stimulation to support body stabilization.
The work emphasizes:
Postural organization and alignment in different body positions
Core muscle activation to support deep stabilization and movement control
Fluid, integrated joint mobility
Body awareness and motor efficiency
Transfer of the principles explored in practice to dance-specific movements
